A better use for those old water tanks.

We have all seen those old water tanks that are picturesque rooftop structures that originally held water for fire protection and manufacturing needs throughout Chicago’s industrial districts. Because building now employ pumps, they no longer need the tanks. What to do, well they had acontestt to find new and interesting ideas.

After recieving proposals from all over the world, Chicagoan Rahman Polk received top honors for his submission that utilizes the water tanks as wind turbines which generate electricity and in turn power LED lights that broadcast webcasts, cultural exhibits, amber alerts and other public service announcements. Polk was awarded a cash prize of $3,500 for his comprehensive design.

The spinning blades would create electricity, and had LED on the tips that would work like those LED signs that look like they arescrollingg. I love it, I have been looking for a loft space that grants roof rights, mostly for a garden and some solar panles, but I havealwaysy loved the look of the old water tanks, an now maybe they will not go away.
